Thorsten Gerwin is a political scientist specialising in international politics, sustainable development and the analysis of global power and conflict dynamics. After completing his bachelor's degree in politics and society with a minor in history at the University of Bonn, he also completed his master's degree in political science there with a thesis on the securitisation of European space policy.

In addition to his professional activities, he volunteers in political education and networking, including at Polis180 – a grassroots think tank for foreign and European policy – and at the Jusos Bonn.
